Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is
characterised by partial or complete upper airway obstruction during sleep
and is associated with snoring and daytime sleepiness. Patients who
generally sleep alone may be unaware that they have apnoea or that they snore,
but it is distressing for a partner to witness someone repeatedly stop
breathing for long periods and then snort or snore
while gasping for air; a loud snorer may be banished from a partner's bed
and restricted in staying away from home. Daytime sleepiness associated
with OSA can be so severe that it causes the person to fall asleep while
driving. Untreated OSA is associated with marital problems,
poor quality of life, fatal accidents (caused by sleepiness), and
significant morbidity and mortality. Treatment
for OSA with Naturalis Snore Treatment is effective immediately.
